ASK ABOUT "PARTNER YOGA" (SEASONAL)—This is a gentle to moderate, drop-in class done with a partner. This does not have to be your "significant other." A friend or family member is a great partner choice. Or come stag and be the teacher's partner! It is fun and different way to experience yoga. No previous experience necessary. Just come with your sense of humor!

Holiday Schedule:

12/24: Body Flow 9-10am is ON. (For those of you who have been wanting to try it but usually work, this might be the time for you to do so.) NO PM Drop in, class is cancelled (7-8:30pm) (Merry Christmas)

Drop-in schedule for the weekend after is ON. no changes.

12/31: Body Flow 9-10 am is ON. (again, a great time to try it out if you are off work!) PM Drop-in (7-8:30pm) is OFF, BUT there will be a Sunset Gentle to Moderate New Year's Eve class from 4:30 - 6pm (this is a really nice class that ends with a candlelight savasana. It makes a great transition point from which to move into the New Year, even as you honor the current year)

Drop-in schedule remains ON for the weekend after, no changes.



New Sessions in January:

FOUNDATIONS FOR FLOW: Thursday evenings, starting 1/15/09, 7-8pm. Cost is $70 for 8 weeks. This is a warming and energizing class that is appropriate for confident beginners as well as advanced beginners. Still, it is an introductory class and as such, focus includes postures, sun salutations and pranayama (breathing techniques). The student will learn to link the breath (pranayama) to the pose (asana) and integrate this into the "flow" of the practice. Call: 323-6656 or email: ann@belchertownyoga.com to register.

YOGA FOR STIFFS: Sunday mornings, starting 1/11/09, 9-10am. Cost is $70 for 8 weeks. This class is designed for those who have a problem sitting on the floor or who find a regular yoga class intimidating. It is a gentle class that introduces some basic yoga poses, but the focus is on alignment, body awareness and getting a gentle but thorough all over stretch. In general, most of the poses are done either sitting in a chair or standing and using a chair for balance. Basic breathing techniques help the student explore the mind/body connection found in yoga practice. (students must be able to climb stairs to second floor) Call: 323-6656 or email: ann@belchertownyoga.com to register. Class is capped at 8.

NEW SESSION:

YOGA 101: Tuesday pm, starting 1/13/09, 7-8pm. Cost is $70 for 8 weeks. This class is for those who are new to yoga OR for those who prefer not to be in a mixed level class. The focus of the class is learning basic/classic poses with body awareness and proper alignment. Pranayama (breathing technique) is introduced also, and there is a guided relaxation time at the end of each class.

ONGOING DROP-IN CLASSES:

GENTLE TO MODERATE: This is a mixed level, drop-in class. Focus is on alignment and mind body connection. The pace is gentle and the poses are beginner to advanced beginner level. There are many choices for class days and times.

Wednesday evenings: 7-8:30
Saturday mornings: 7-8:30 and 9-10
Sunday mornings: 10:30-12

Cost is $10/class for 1 hour classes, and $12/class for 1.5 hour classes. There are discounts for FIRST TIME STUDENTS, and 10 class cards.

BODY FLOW: This is also a mixed level class, which is held on Wednesday mornings, from 9-10am with instructor Sharon Riley. This class teaches sequences of flowing postures linked by the breath to detoxify, strengthen and stretch the body. Sharon adapts this class to meet the needs of the student, and as a result, this class is appropriate for both beginners and advanced beginners. The poses gently flow from one to another in a way that is both meditative and strengthening. This is a great choice for those looking for an energizing morning yoga class. Cost is $10/class, and class cards are applicable.
